If you’re working on a project which requires you to get up close and personal to your subjects, the Nikkor 105mm 2.8 Macro Lens does not fail to deliver.
With a minimum focus distance of just 1 ft, this lens allows your subjects to smell you as your Nikon body attempts to lock on. To put this in perspective, the 50mm 1.8g has a minimum focus distance of 1.5 ft, while the 85mm 1.8g is 2.6 ft!
Whats great is, this lens doubles up as an OUTSTANDING portrait lens. Sure the 105mm 1.8 is much quicker, and you get the additional stop of aperture (making for much better bokeh, and for lowlight situations), this lens might be a great alternative, if you want to venture into macro photography.
